    August – December: Targeted recruitment to schools to encourage signup for a school based fundraising campaign. Training includes scripts, handling objections, email and voice mail follow up, call strategies, instructions for data base tracking and persistent follow up. Meticulous tracking of outreach in campaign database and excel calling spreadsheets. January – May: Campaign support including customer service, mailings, orientation sessions, active school management touch points, database tracking. May also support field with school presentations.

    The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is looking for energetic and excited team members to join our non-profit team as an Outreach & Support Assistant for Student Series, a school-based campaign (www.studentseries.org).

    During August – December, you would be responsible for contacting and recruiting schools within the region to register them for our Student Series school fundraising program. Successful Outreach Assistants may have sales experience, are excellent communicators and listen well to help coordinators build programs that fit their schools and encourage volunteers to join us in the fight against blood cancers. You must be comfortable spending hours on the phone and able to handle rejection. Persistence, positive attitude, friendly competitive spirit as and commitment to reach goals is desired. You will also help with tracking performance for yourself and the team and helping with motivation.

    During January – May, you would be responsible for active school management in support of participating schools. This may include providing phone orientation meeting with new schools, setting up assembly dates, touching base with phone and email reminders and confirmations, recording touch points in our database to meet key performance indicators. You may also be asked to assist in the field during especially busy months to provide school assemblies.

    Especially during the fall recruitment period, shift start time times may be adjusted to match school teacher’s availability, e.g. starting at 7:30 am. Work schedule is Monday - Friday. Unpaid days off correlate with school breaks.

    • Proficiently make outbound phone and acknowledgement calls to prospective and existing contacts and/or leads in order to create interest in and commitment to participation in campaign.
    • Maintain established outbound call volume to source, establish relationships and generate qualified new lead generation for the campaign leadership.
    • Provide accurate follow up through proactive phone and/or e-mail communications keeping interested leads warm and engaged.
    • Assist in the development of program materials, including assembly and distribution.
    • Maintain assigned program records and files.
    • Prepare assigned campaign correspondence and reports.
    • Provide customer service to participating schools via calls and touch points to reach KPI goals.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


    Education & Experience Requirements:

    • High School degree required; college degree or current student welcomed.
    • 1+ year’s telemarketer or customer service experience
    • Commitment to achieving phone calls/per day schedule and email follow up

    Position Requirements:

    • Capacity to confidently speak with educators regarding key messages and values of the campaign
    • Excellent communication skills and phone etiquette
    • Outstanding interpersonal skills and team player
    • Ability to collect and organize data effectively
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Knowledge of MS Office Suite and databases
