    Overview

    Summary: The Outreach Assistant makes outbound phone calls and sends e-mail communication to targeted contacts for a specific campaign. This role is responsible for creating a qualified pipeline of decision making contacts, keeping leads warm and growing the interest and commitment to LLS’ mission and programs for campaign leadership. Responsible for several aspects of Student Series including school recruitment and management, in-person visits, host assemblies, event wrap up, and other administrative duties as assigned.

     

    Works under the supervision of Student Series Campaign Manager(s), in conjunction with fellow campaign staff, to accomplish assigned duties and responsibilities.

     

    Reports to: Executive Director or assigned staff

    Time Frame: School Year: August –End of May or September- Mid June (must take 2 month break and then may return for another placement)

    The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is looking for energetic and excited team members who would like to join our non-profit team as an Outreach Assistant while still being able to maintain a school and/or family-friendly schedule.

    You would be responsible for contacting and recruiting schools within the region to register them for our Student Series school fundraising program. Successful Outreach Assistants may have sales experience, are excellent communicators and listen well to help coordinators build programs that fit their schools and encourage volunteers to join us in the fight against blood cancers.

    These are part time positions (multiple vacancies), which start in late August and run through early Spring. Four hour shifts are available in both the morning and afternoon. Start dates and shift times may vary by office. Unpaid days off correlate with school breaks.

    Responsibilities

    • Maintain established outbound call volume to source, establish relationships and generate qualified new lead generation for the campaign leadership.
    • Identify and network with schools and coordinators in assigned counties to promote the fundraising campaign(s) and drive fundraising success.
    • Provide accurate follow up through proactive phone and/or e-mail communications keeping interested leads warm and engaged.
    • Weekly goals are set and must be met for number of commitments for Student Series programs lke Pennies for Patients.
    • Manage and coach schools to achieve fundraising goals through planning, customer service and stewardship.
    • Draft concise, effective and personable communications to volunteers, participants, and donors with oversight by Campaign Manager
    • Maintain assigned program records and files.
    • Provide administrative assistance to campaign(s) through email, phone & website account management and Campaign 360 database.
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and programs to promote the field and campaign fundraising initiatives.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.
    • Light travel in the immediate area

     

     

    Qualifications

    Education/Certifications/Licenses

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • Possession of a valid Driver’s License

    Experience Requirements

    • 1-2 years’ professional or intern – level experience in a fundraising, communications, sales, marketing or related field.
    • Advanced skills in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required.
    • Experience in cold calling and sales outreach a plus.
    • Experience with database management a plus.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally.
    • Able to simultaneously manage a high level of detail across multiple projects.
    • Able to demonstrate flexibility and quickly adapt to changes while maintaining high levels of productivity and effectiveness under pressure.
    • Able to work well within a team environment, offering assistance and support to team members whenever necessary.

    • Required to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.

    • May be required to move Campaign materials weighing up to 15 pounds for various events.
    • Able to work flexible hours to meet with schools during and outside school hours
