    At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), we're passionate about our mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS volunteers help carry out this mission in so many ways: supporting patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and our community, driving policy advocacy, participating in our campaigns, and helping LLS build much needed capacity.

    Overview

    The purpose of this role is to support strategic communications to help raise awareness about LLS and its mission work among internal and external audiences.  

    Responsibilities

    Position Tasks:

     

    The outcomes of this role serve our mission and will require the volunteer to perform tasks that may include:

    • Help develop and maintain marketing communications and social media calendar
    • Manage local social media accounts for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter 
    • Collaborate with staff to develop newsletters, web content, email blasts, social media messaging and collateral 
    • Manage chapter website content updates
    • Produce monthly chapter e-newsletter 
    • Administer select on-going programs and/or special projects (e.g. Retail Partner calls, participant consumer service, event logistics support, etc.) 
    • Provide administrative and clerical support for fundraising campaigns 
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    Desired Skills:

     

    The volunteer should possess the following skills/qualifications: 

    • Interest in Communications, Public Relations, Media, Nonprofit Management, Fundraising, Advertising 
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines 
    • Excellent oral and written communications skills 
    • Self-starter and fast learner motivated for success of team 
    • Strong proof reading kills and attention to detail 
    • Enthusiastic, dead line-oriented and collaborative team player  
    • Experience working with Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point)

    Training:

     

    LLS will provide the volunteer with an orientation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as well as the following training: 

    • Volunteer will be trained on LLS Systems and website (Okta, Outlook & Box) 
    • Volunteer will be trained on LLS social media channels
